My son Jack was diagnosed at eighteen months old, and for as long as I can remember, I wished for a crystal ball to see the future. Yet I never considered what anything past high school might look like.
It wasn’t until the start of his senior year - right after we dropped our oldest son to college - that I felt a little panicked. Where was Jack going to go after high school? What would he do to fill his time?
(Scratch that. I didn’t feel a little panicked. I felt a lot.)
So I began to research college programs for kids with autism.
