"Does your family care that you write about them?"
Three questions I ask myself before I post.
I’ve always wanted to write fiction – to invent characters and plots out of thin air and make a story. As an avid reader, I am in awe of authors who can weave imaginary lives together.
But I have never been able to cross that divide from memoir to literature. Instead, I write about my life. Which means I also write about the people in my life.
For the last twelve years, I’ve been sharing about marriage, kids, autism, and family. When it comes to autism, I share regularly about sensitive topics like puberty, medication, and life skills.
When I started, my kids were all under the age of ten. As they became teenagers, they grew a little uneasy with the idea of their lives online.
